Old Fashioned Date Squares

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Date Filling:

  • 1 lb chopped dates
  • 1 cup crushed pineapple with juice

Combine dry ingredients. Add butter and make a crumb mixture.

Date Filling: Combine dates and pineapple over medium heat. Cook until soft.

Place ½ of the crumb mixture in a greased 9x13 inch glass baking dish. Spread filling over base and top with remaining crumb mixture. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Cool completely and cut into squares.
