Steak and Kidney Pie

  • 1 kidney
  • 1 lb steak, cubed
  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Pastry
  • Flour

Cut out inside of kidney. Cut into small pieces and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Strain and rinse in hot water. Dry and flour kidney pieces. Brown in frying pan with onion and floured cubed steak. Cook for 2 hours, keeping water added to barely cover. Make pastry. Add kidney/steak mixture. Bake pie at 400°F for 10 minutes. Turn oven to 375°F and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until browned.
